Well, today is day two in South Africa. Flying across time zones and into contrasting climates and seasons is a little disorienting. It feels like we've been here a few more days than we have.

Yesterday was spent lounging around in the morning. That was really easy to take. A few hours of sitting outside, drinking espresso, chatting with the kids and Lydia while wearing shorts and a t-shirt really felt great. In the early afternoon family and friends started to show-up. We got to visit with a number of cousins, Lydia's brother Simon, a couple uncles, an aunt and a few friends, too.

We fired-up the grill for a little braai and sat down to a table full of lamb chops, boer wors, salad, bread and mealies. After dinner Duane Mol, Lydia's cousin, did a quick magic show for the family. Duane and his wife Therina are both medical doctors but Duane has always been an entertainer at heart and he started doing magic shows as a business back when he was a young man. He was so successful he was able to buy his first house with the money he made from shows he's done over the years! Now, the duties of family, church and medicine have made it hard to continue his performances but we got a little show last night. Very entertaining and I'm still wondering how he did a number of tricks. And, like a true pro, he never gave anything away.

It was close to 10 PM by the time everyone had left.

Today will consist of a little visiting with friends and then tomorrow we're off in the AM to Cape Town where we pick-up our car/van thingie and then off to Greyton for a couple days.
